Mgt Lazy Image Loader 1.0.4 has been released

Stefan Wieczorek —  July 27, 2012 — Leave a comment

Get a better page load time through loading your images on demand.

How does it work?

The Mgt Lazy Image Loader script is based on jQuery and written in Javascript.
It delays loading of images in web pages. Images which are outside of the viewport and not visible
by the customer won’t be loaded before user scrolls to them. The opposite of this behavior is preloading images.

Where can i download the extension?

The extension is free and be downloaded in our store:

The installation/integration in Magento is very easy:

  • Extract zip archive and copy contents to the app/folder of your Magento installation
  • Open the File “app/design/frontend/default/default/template/catalog/product/list.phtml”

search for

<img src="helper('catalog/image')->init($_product, 'small_image')->resize(
135); ?>"
width="135" height="135" alt="stripTags($this->getImageLabel($_product,
'small_image'), null, true) ?>" />

replace with

<img class="lazy" src="getSkinUrl('images/mgt_lazy_image_loader/loader.gif'); ?>" data-src="helper('catalog/image')->init($_product, 'small_image')->resize(135); ?>" width="135"
height="135" alt="stripTags($this->getImageLabel($_product, 'small_image'),
null, true) ?>" />
  • Clear the cache in Admin -> System > Cache Management

Changes in 1.0.4

  • Add newest jquery version 1.7.2
  • Change namespace to Mgt
